Considering the religious building most important in Madrid, Cathedral de Almudena was consecrated in the early ’90s by Pope Joan Pavel II, becoming the first consecrated cathedral of Almudena outside Rome. Projected by Madrid’s architect Francisco de Cubas, this cathedral leaves indifferent anybody, the roof, and brightly coloured stained-glass and straight lines you’ll find in their inside contrast with the classic outside appearance. Located on the north side of the Royal Palace and built after the Second Republic's arrival, in the early 30s, these gardens receive the name of its architect, the Italian Francesco Sabatini.
